Day After Christmas

We had a great Christmas! David was actually a lot of fun! He 'opened' presents. (he held on to the wrapping paper as I turned the package- it was funny). My parents and siblings came to visit us for the day. Zach and I cooked sweet potatoes, corn, and broccoli, and my parents brought a honey baked ham and a few other sides. Unfortunately I exceeded my weekly allotment of weight watcher points. I don't feel too bad about it because Christmas only comes once a year and I was planning on eating peanut butter balls and fudge (which I did).

I wish I was out today shopping the holiday sales, but instead I'm at work. I'm excited about this weekend- we are getting together with Zach's family at red top mountain state park in North Georgia. It should be a good time! Though, I feel like there just isn't enough time in the day. We have a lot to do in terms of wrapping presents, packing, etc. I also need to buy a white shirt for pictures. I tried to buy one at Kohls last weekend but they didn't have one. We haven't had a chance to go shopping since then. It's crazy how little time we have to go places. On week nights we can't go out because our time is spent feeding, bathing, and putting David to sleep plus cooking and cleaning up dinner. By the time all of that is done, it's time to go to bed! On the weekends we clean the house, do laundry, go to church, go grocery shopping and stuff like that. Last weekend we fit in some Christmas shopping and the weekend before we were out of town. On another note, we hadn't gotten around to buying a Christmas tree and we went to Lowes on Christmas Eve to get one and they didn't have any. Isn't that crazy?!? Where are the procrastinators supposed to get their trees?? I guess next year we will have to do that one earlier. At least we have our very pretty Christmas wreath on the front door (Zach's mom made it- she makes wonderful crafts).

My office is pretty empty today. If I were the CEO I would give my employees the whole week of Christmas as vacation. That's probably one reason why I will never be a CEO! It just doesn't make sense for office staff to work during Christmas week (especially Christmas Eve). Ok, I'll stop complaining about that. I know most companies do have to work this week. The only ones that get off are construction companies and government employees and then indivuduals who use vacation days. Next year I get 3 weeks- 15 days- of vacation days! I'm moving up in the working world! I'm super pumped about that. I'll get to visit Rachel in 'Bama when she has her baby! Yeah! Mark and Rachel are due in July. Rachel wants it to be a girl- she finds out in February. She's about a month ahead of where I was last year. It's so much fun having a friend that is going to have a baby. Pregnancy and child birth are truly amazing. One of God's wonderful gifts. I see pregnant people and it's just hard to comprehend that there is a little baby in that person's stomach. It's crazy. Thankfully for Rachel, unlike myself, she is not sick at all! I'm so happy for her. Even though it was totally worth it, those 9 months I was pregnant were the most miserable (physically) of my entire life. My mom knows what I am talking about! (and she did it 3 times!).

I think I'm going to try to get some work done today. It's so quiet in my office I can't concentrate! I am most productive with a little background noise. My boss has banned ear phones while working. Little does he realize if I were allowed to listen to music as background noise I would be SO much more productive. I don't think he realizes people have different working and learning styles. Oh well!

Random

So- I'm officially the worst blogger ever. Though I enjoy reading my friends blogs and viewing their pictures on a daily basis, I neglect to comment on my own blog. I theroize that this is because my friends that blog were either english or journalism majors in school and enjoy to write. I, on the other hand, hate writing. It's frustrating that I can not express what is in my head into words. I read what I write and it just doesn't properly convey what I am thinking. Additionally, I am terrible at grammar and spelling. I conviniently attribute this to heridity. Both of my blood siblings are horrible spellars despite our mother (who is an english major) trying to teach us for years how to spell. Thanks Dad. So now I am at work and I am procrastinating doing this specific task that I do not want to do so blogging is a great procrastination tool.
Today we are supposed to have cleaners come and clean our whole house for $60. We are trying to put some order into our chaotic filled lives. I left them a check on the table and told them how to get in, and hopefully I will come home to a clean house. For some reason, I have the feeling they are not going to show up. If that's the case I suppose I will try to hire someone else. It's funny, last night we had to 'clean' up (pick up) for the cleaners! Even though we are on a tight budget, we figure this is necessary for our sanity.
On another note, I started weight watchers on Tuesday. I went to Mcdonald's and ate a quarter pounder meal and then went to weight watchers. I never used to like mcdonald's until I was pregnant now I like it and that is disgusting to me! My friend Emily has lost nearly 20 or so pounds on WW which gave me the idea to join. Way to go Emily!

VERY busy

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. Amy slipped a disk in her back while packing for our move to the new house. She's been unable to bend and lift anything (even as small as a purse) ever since and has found this VERY frustrating. She's been staying at home with her Mom so that she can get taken to the places she needs to go and have someone help her.
This Thursday we closed on the new house, and on Friday morning the movers came to pack up the apartment. They loaded the truck Monday and were supposed to deliver the stuff on Tuesday, but when Amy called to ask what time they'd be arriving they told us - for the first time! - that they were short some drivers and would not be delivering all of our earthly possessions until the next Monday. Needless to say we found this a highly inconvenient arrangement. Amy was able to convince them that her labor was imminent and that she needed her baby stuff which was on the truck, so they bumped the date up to Wednesday (tommorrow) - we're hoping they follow through on this!
In the meantime Amy, Mrs. Sceviour, Lindsey, and Lindsey's friend had a busy day at the new house with Lindsey and friend painting a first coat in the nursery and Amy and Mom taking delivery of Washer/Dryer and Refrigerator, being measured for blinds, having internet set-up, and having repairmen in the house repairing some new-home bugs.
That may have been long, but we assure you, it's the SHORT version!

Good News!

I went to the doctor today and she discovered that the baby has turned to the head down position!

July 4th Trip to Savannah

To change things up from our usual routine of spending time in Atlanta together, Amy drove down to Macon to come to see me for July 4th. We considered going to see a concert with fireworks performed by Warner Robins High School Bands, the Air Force Band, and Lee Greenwood (Singer of "I'm Proud to Be an American"), but when we drove by the stadium it was a complete MADHOUSE with probably 30-40,000 people and every parking lot within a mile packed full. Since long walks from parking, lack of adequate seating, and long lines for bathrooms are not pregnant-people friendly we decided against it. On the morning of July 4th Amy and I had no plans. She said, "I wish we were at the beach for July 4th." We realized that Savannah was only 2 and a half hours from Macon so on the spot we decided to go. In Savannah we went for a walk down River Street stopping for Chocolate Pralines, Fudge, Salt-water Taffee and a Snow Cone (we're on the all-sugar, all-the-time diet). After getting a good sugar buzz we went out to Tybee island for some sand and surf. Since we didn't know we were going to the beach that day, neither of us brought our bathing suits so we didn't stay long on the beach, but it was nice to get some sand between our toes and feel the ocean water lapping on our legs. House Pics

Here are some recent pictures of our future house! Today Zach and I went to a class at Northside Hospital called 'Baby Essentials'. It was a lot of fun! We learned to to dress, hold, change the diaper, bath, and swaddle a doll. Zach changed his first diaper! He did really well at everything!!

Baby Shower

We had a busy and fun weekend! On Saturday my friend Melissa and her mother threw a baby shower and it was wonderful. Thank you to everyone who came and sent presents for David! It was at a cafe in Gwinnett and it was a perfect shower! On Sunday Zach and I went to a childbirth class given by Northside Hospital. It was a little bit scary! They showed a video of a woman giving birth. Today is my last day of week 32 and my next doctor's appointment is on Tuesday. So far everything is going well with the pregnancy. (although we are still waiting for baby eaton to flip from his breech position) My stomach is continuing to grow! On another note, Zach's job is going well, but we are not enojoying being seperated all week.

Weekend Adventures

Zach and I went to Charlotte this weekend to go to a family friend's wedding. We had a good time seeing family that we hadn't seen in a while! Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures. However, we do have a picture of the house we are trying to buy!! Hopefully we will close sometime at the end of July. (Our lease on our apartment in Atlanta ends August 1st so we need somewhere to move our stuff!) I also had a 30 week doctor's appointment today and everything is going well. I heard the heartbeat and had my stomach measured. Starting now I go to the doctor every 2 weeks and at week 35 I start going every week! Our due date is August 22nd so we have about 2 more months to go! I'm trying to set things up at work so I can go on maternity leave 2 weeks prior to my due date but I'm having some difficulty, so we'll see how that goes. I think my job would like you to have a baby Friday night and come back to work Monday morning. I'm not too happy with them right now!

Latest Ultrasound

This is the picture from our latest ultrasound on May 25th (27 weeks and 1 day). The doctor said our baby looks great! Right now he is 2.5 pounds and the doctor predicts he will be 8.5 pounds if carried to full term. He looked so squished during the ultrasound! It was hard to tell one body part from another. At one point, Zach asked the doctor 'is that his head?' and the doctor said 'no, that's his abdomen!'.

Zach's New Job

Zach started his new job at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA last Tuesday, May 29th. He is working as a civilian government employee in the engineering department that does maintenance on F-15's. He has been and will be in orientation until this Thursday. He hasn't even met his boss yet! He is living in his friend Justin's apartment during the week and traveling back to Atlanta to stay with me on the weekends. I miss him already! Since I didn't have this blog up earlier I will post some pictures from my friend Rachel's wedding that happened a couple of weekends ago. I was 6 months pregnant in these pictures.
