A Sunday Afternoon

Our Sunday afternoon has been consumed with laundry, and the grocery store, and David's shananigans. I started taking pictures to show how well he feeds Bella every day- I'm not kidding, he actually does a really good job. Our only problem is that he doesn't want to stop. Then, I decided since the camera was out we'd film him doing the wheels on the bus song (I've been wanting to tape him doing that but just haven't gotten around to it). I should have known better than to interupt his current activity to do something else. The boy has a 1 track mind!


Oh, last Sunday we got a visit from my parents. We also got a visit from Melissa the same weekend. I didn't take many pics, but this is what I got:

Surgery Scheduled

David's ear tube surgery is scheduled for April 10th. It's on a Friday. He has a pre-op appointment the day before at 12 pm, and I don't know what time his surgery is on Friday. He will only have to miss one day of 'school' as he will be able to return on Monday (he would actually be able to go back the very next day but I scheduled his surgery on a Friday just incase he was feeling gloomy). Dissapointingly, we've heard from the insurance it is going to cost us $550 out of pocket for the surgery. Ouch. I was a bit surprised, as our insurance is typically very good. They also will not cover the ear plugs afterwards. I guess I can't complain. I am very thankful to have insurance, and the premiums we pay are very afordable compared to what some others have to pay.

Tonight I pulled out all the short sleeve summer clothes for David that I bought last year on clearance. Man has it been hot here. I kid you not, one weekend we have snow flurries and the next weekend we have our AC on. We literally had no time in between heat and AC. It's in the mid 80's now for those non local readers. David hates the heat! He also sweats a lot! Every time I get him out of his car seat he is just soaked in sweat and thats with the AC on full blast, its crazy. They are applying sunscreen like crazy to him at daycare because he got burnt the other day and they felt very bad. They had put it on him, but he really needs it every 30 minutes in order not to burn. I gave them a hat for him to wear, but he refuses to keep it on. Maybe one day...

We are a 1 Car Family

We are officially a one car family now! Well, unless you count David's coupe car, haha. We sold our 2000 Honda CR-V. With my new job at the same location as Zach's job we thought it was a good time to do this. We'll see how it goes.



David decided to color on the wall yesterday. I didn't get mad because he had never done it before and how would he know any different? I explained to him that coloring was for paper only. Every time D sees a camera now he lunges forward at it and does this faky looking smile where you can see all his teeth. We had a second crayon on the wall incident today and it involved time out and crying. Good thing they are washable.

Oh, I forgot to mention, we had snow flurries here on Sunday but no snow stuck(apparently it stuck in ATL some) it was mostly just cold icy rain. We had to work today- no snow day- so sad.

Two Ear Infections in One Month

We can't go to church again- the second week in a row. We took David to the doctor yesterday because he was running a fever. Turns out he has another ear infection. This is diheartening as he just got off of antibiotic a week ago for his last infection- and yes, he did get over it because we did a follow up visit at the end, and his ears looked good. Funny thing is, I was able to diagnose this one. For $26, I bought the Dr. Mom Otoscope on Amazon.com. When we went to the Pediatrician I said that I thought his left ear looked badly infected and his right ear only slightly, and sure enough that was the case- funny, huh? That was the best purchase ever! Now I know when and when not to go to the doctor for all this ear drama.

In January we went to a consultation at an ENT for tubes because D has had 7+ infections this year. I chose to take the conservative approach and 'watch and wait' to see if we could get through the winter without any more infections. Well, since we have had TWO since that appointment, we most ascertainly are going to have to go with tubes. I really don't want to, though, because of the risks of anesthesia.

The doctor we saw yesterday was not our normal one because it was the after hours at the office. He basically told me that as long as David kept getting colds he was going to keep getting ear infections. The only way for me to prevent that was to take him out of day care and that's what I needed to do. Thanks doctor, for the oh so practical advice, hah.
